Joseph Kugielsky, a visual artist born in Argentina and educated in Israel, has lived in Newtown, CT since 1980. He began his career as a photojournalist for outlets such as The New York Times and various international magazines, before turning to art as a medium for deeper visual and conceptual inquiry. His work spans photography,installation, and sculpture, engaging themes of migration, memory, and transformation. Kugielsky has been a contributor to Point of Contact projects for several decades. His work was exhibited in Sueños: Celebrating the Surreal (2018), and Libro de Artista (2024). His most recent work Gateway, a Dialogue with "Last Dream" (2025), is an artist book inspired by the poem Last Dream by Diana Marie Delgado.. His notable works include Nude Descending (1993), a series of color photographic prints; The Last Supper (1994), in both printed and lightbox negative installation formats; and The Tower (2017), a sculptural piece constructed from photographic negatives. His work has been shown internationally, including in Entre Mundos (2023–24), organized by the Art Bridges Initiative in collaboration with the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston.
