Juan Cavallero (b. 1941, Buenos Aires, Argentina) is a multidisciplinary artist whose career spans illustration, design, film, and photography. Trained at the American Art School in Buenos Aires and later at the Escuela Superior de Bellas Artes in Rio de Janeiro, he has worked internationally as a designer, illustrator, and educator, collaborating with publications, children’s books, and major music labels while directing his own studios since 1968. Influenced by his travels through Latin America, the United States, and Europe, his series Globalized Sadness approaches poverty and marginalized populations to generate visibility and human dignity, confronting the viewer with the universal realities of poverty. Point of Contact presented this series in its 2016 exhibit WOE: Globalized Sadness.
