Echoes IV  2012   Photography Print- Color   50 x 26”

Gladys Triana is a Cuban American visual artist based in New York whose career spans nearly six decades, encompassing works on paper, paintings, sculpture, mixed-media collage, installations, and photography. Her exhibit titled Sharply into a Light Space, was presented by Point of Contact in 2014. In this photographic series, Triana addresses the global climate crisis, using her art as a vehicle for awareness. Through carefully constructed images that exist outside of time and space, she employs the interplay of light and shadow as central elements to convey a metaphorical vision of environmental degradation. The resulting mystery within these virtual spaces reflects the profound impact of climate change, reinforcing her belief that art can illuminate urgent global issues.
