Arnaldo Roche Rabell (1955–2018) was a prominent Puerto Rican neo-expressionist painter known for his richly textured works exploring memory, identity, political turmoil, and the act of painting itself. Born in San Juan, he studied art locally before earning an MFA from the Art Institute of Chicago in 1984. He developed a distinctive technique of layering and scratching away paint to reveal evocative, emotionally charged images. One of his pieces, The Architect, is part of the Point of Contact permanent collection and reflects his signature style. It’s an oil and wood on paper composition that captures his powerful visual language of remembrance and introspection.
