Maritza Bautista
Maritza Bautista (b. 1979, Texas) is a multidisciplinary artist, educator, and cultural worker from Laredo, Texas. Her Texan-Mexican and border identity deeply influences her artistic practice, which spans various media and focuses on social justice and marginalized communities. At Point of Contact’s annual poetry series Cruel April (2025), organized by Point of Contact Gallery, she presented a unique piece titled Umbilical Situation Relating to my Father, based on the poem of the same name by Diana Marie Delgado. This work explores deep and personal themes and is now part of the permanent collection at Point of Contact.
