Juan Juárez

Juan Juarez is a visual artist and educator, recently joining the University of Texas at El Paso (UTEP) as Chair of the Departmenet of Art, after serving as Director of Graduate Studies in the School of Art at Syracuse University’s College of Visual & Performing Arts. He earned his B.F.A. in Painting and Drawing from the University of North Texas, and his M.A. and M.F.A. in Studio Arts from the University of Wisconsin–Milwaukee. His interdisciplinary studio practice includes painting, photography, collage, video, installation, and digital mediation, and his teaching approach emphasizes research, critical engagement, and professionalism for art majors. Among his notable projects is Corpus, a multimedia installation exploring memory and decay through images of his paternal grandmother’s house. His most recent work, Indices (2025) was inspired by the poem of the same title, by Diana Marie Delgado, and is now part of Point of Contact’s permanent collection at Point of Contact Gallery.
