Izhar Patkin (b. 1955, Haifa, Israel), currently resides and works in New York City. His career is marked by a series of influential exhibitions showcasing his work both nationally and internationally. In 2013, he held a solo retrospective at MASS MoCA in North Adams, MA. Prior to that, notable solo exhibitions included The Dead Are Here (2012) at Shoshana Wayne Gallery in Santa Monica, CA, and The Veil Suite (2010) at the Sao Paulo Biennale in Brazil. Throughout his career, the artist has participated in significant group exhibitions, including the Whitney Biennial in 1987 and showcases at prestigious venues like the Centre Pompidou in Paris and the Indianapolis Museum of Art. His solo shows span multiple decades, featuring highlights such as Judenporzellan (1998) at Holly Solomon Gallery in New York, Icons (1993), and The Meta Bride (1983).

This work is a black-and-white collage by Izhar Patkin, created during his tenure as Art Director for Point of Contact in 1993. The piece, produced in collaboration with Kristina Colovic, combines photographic prints into a layered composition reflecting the cultural vibrancy of Bahia. The back cover of the issue features Don Quixote, situating the work within the broader context of the publication The America's Baroque – Vol. 3 No. 3.
