Study for Pearl I
Ink on Paper
2012
12 x 18”

These ink drawings by Gwen Thomas (b. 1943, living in New York) are part of a continued investigation of windows and glass—in this case, drawings for stained glass and broken, fractured windows. As diptychs, they function as two (reflecting) panes of a window. Their title—Study for Pearl I & II—refers to the title of the etching The Pearl is the River’s Color and the play of light and reflections on glass. Thomas’s work was presented at the Point of Contact Gallery in 2014, in her solo show Moments of Place.
